La Union Colleges of Science and Technology Inc. was founded in September 2002. LUCST is the realization of the dream of the founder, Engr. Arturo C. Quinto to share in nurturing future leaders. Since the mother school, Northern Philippines College for Maritime, Science, and Technology, Inc. has no more room for expansion, the President and Founder looked for a more spacious school site. And thus, LUCST was established – here in Bauang, La Union
In its initial operation on June 2, 2002, the enrolment was only eighty-one (81). Courses like Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (BSE) were also offered aside from the Primary and Secondary Courses. In its third and fourth year of operations, the enrolment rose gradually and at present, it is home to more than 1,000 pupils and students. In his desire to have a separate building for the College and Tech-Voc Department, the President constructed a three-story building in 2006 - The ARNEL building houses college classrooms, offices, and the like. The school has also established other Higher Education courses and Technical Vocational courses. Several achievements were also accomplished during the past years. This includes the Basic Education Department’s accreditation status for Level 1 from ACSU – ACI; the construction of the New Building; and the LUCST ANNEX.New and enhanced Facilities also emerged, like the new renovated LUCST Gymnasium suitable for events and extra-curricular activities; and the newly constructed Arnel 2 Bldg which caters first and 2nd year students of the two college programs, basic educations students, libraries and improved laboratories, and the LUCST Café.
LUCST is a promising institution and slowly, it is carving its niche in the academic world. LUCST has received a lot of recognition and awards in the various activities within Bauang, La Union, and even outside. These are testaments of LUCST’s commitment to the holistic formation of the youth. LUCST is committed to providing quality education and academic excellence, and the proof of these is the never-ending improvements of the school. This year, LUCST is going to its twenty-three years of operation, and in the coming years LUCST will keep on building the future of the youth.
