History of LUCST


La Union Colleges of Science and Technology, Inc was founded on September 2002. LUCST is the realization of the dream of the founder, Engr. Arturo C. Quinto to share in nurturing the future leaders. Since the mother of school, Northern Philippines Colleges for Maritime, Science and Technology, Inc. has no more rooms for expansion, the President and Founder looked for more spacious school site. Engr. Arturo C. Quinto was able to negotiate for a piece of land lying just a few meters at the back of Bauang Municipal Hall. In its initial operation on June 2002, the enrolment was only 81. There were 16 employees headed by the President himself, with Ms. Marie Cherry M. Quinto, his youngest daughter as the school registrar, Dr. Francisco Flores as the administrative officer and Dr. Marcelo Aluyen as the Principal. Courses like BSE and BSIT were offered aside from the primary and secondary courses On its second, third and fourth year of operation, the enrolment rose gradually and at present, it is home for more than 1000 pupils/students. This time, the president is supported by more than 50 faculty and staff, with the help of the Executive Vice-President in the Person of Ms. Marie Cherry M. Quinto, the Principal, and the other department Heads and staff. At present, aside from the primary and secondary courses, the school is also offering Tech-Voc and CHED courses like BSIT, BSOA, and BSHRM, 2-year courses like Computer Hardware Servicing,Computer Programming, Six-month caregiver, One-year Healthcare Services, Medical Transcription Course, Baking, Bartending, Food and Beverage Services, Commercial Cooking and Housekeeping. In the desire to have a separate building for the college and Tech-Voc. department, the President constructed a three-story building, the Arnel Building which houses canteen 2, caregiver laboratory room, food preparation room, mock-up bar, two computer laboratory rooms, college library, type writing room, offices, and classrooms. In year 2012, another tech- voc. building was constructed near the mock-up hotel and at the back of the gym which covers the classrooms and laboratory rooms for the following courses: Welding or SMAW, building wiring and electrical installation, consumer electronics, and automotive.

But dreams of the founder not stop here. He may be at his prime but his passion for service has never waned. He has still a lot of plans for LUCST. He wants that someday this school will be comparable to the prestigious colleges and universities in our country. The plans for accreditation and expansion are already in the mind at this early. The founder is totally committed to quality education and academic excellence and proofs of these two are never-ending improvement of our school. La Union Colleges of Science and Technology as continuously soaring high to accomplish its mandate and mission, Ms. Marie Cherry M. Quinto was then assigned as the School President with her greatest hope and aspiration for the institution to continue to keep the flame of service and common good in molding future professionals of the nation. LUCST is promising institution and slowly, it is carving in its own niche in the academic world. LUCST has received a lot of recognition and awards in the various activities within Bauang, La Union and even outside Bauang. These are testaments of LUCST’s commitment to the holistic formation of the youth. LUCST on its eighteenth year of operation extended a wide range of serving the youth as it opened a new school the LUCST Annex located at the Mabini Street, Catbangen, City of San Fernando, La Union which caters Technical Vocational Program, Diploma Courses and Senior High School.

In 2019, La Union Colleges of Science and Technology Inc. has achieved Level 1 Accreditation for its Basic Education Program by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities- Accrediting Council Inc. (ACSCU-ACI) , marking a significant milestone in its commitment to academic excellence. This accreditation reflects the institutions dedication to providing quality education, improving its curriculum and enhancing student learning experiences. LUCST continue to strengthen its educational standards, ensuring students received a well-rounded and competitive foundation for their future studies. Additionally, as part of another milestone of LUCST are the newly constructed College Building at the campus and the newly constructed Tech-Voc Building. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in SY 2020-2022, LUCST offered blended learning with to continue its operation amidst the pandemic. Furthermore, to cater the needs of the growing population of the College Department, LUCST constructed a 2-story building named ARNEL 2 building which housed the state-of-the-art laboratory rooms to enhance the required skills of our students and future students. Furthermore, an additional classrooms for BS HM, BS IT also the LUCST Cafe that serves as refreshment area and venue for training and seminars for BARISTA and POINT OF SALE system. Throughout the LUCST history, the school community has remained committed to creating an environment in which students are known, supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow. LUCST commits it self to continues improvement thus in 2024 LUCST was granted LEVEL 2 ACCREDITED STATUS on its Basic Education Program by ACSCU-ACI. LUCST is taking a significant step toward innovation by constructing a technologically advance function room. This modern facility is equipped with audiovisual system, smart lighting and high speed internet connection to enhance conferences, seminars and events. This initiative aligns with the schools commitment to adapting technological advancement and ensuring a future-ready education environment. Furthermore, this serves as a hub for industry partnerships, allowing students to experience real-wold practices. Now LUCST is on its 23 fruitful years of offering quality education and will keep on building the future of the youth in the hope of a better Philippines, a better world. And in the coming years, LUCST will keep on building the future of the youth and educate students to the highest levels of academic achievement, to enable them to reach and expand their potential, and to prepare them to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of society.
